The Sunland Village website was taken offline at the end of September. The original site had quickly achieved its goals of providing information to owners and residents; reducing paper use, waste, labor, and printing and mailing expenses; and encouraging owners and residents to increase their involvement in the community. It had also far outgrown its original plan and could no longer support its own weight. The huge expansion of content, the need for very frequent updates, the large membership list representing more than 2/3 of Sunland Village units, and other issues reached a breaking point. The proposed site would ensure that the valuable information resource continued, while supporting that content with new technology that would make it much more user-friendly and functional for everyone involved. New features would include flexible organization and increased adaptability as the HOA evolves; direct input from board members, management and other designated community members rather than all content being funneled through a webmaster; customizable email lists, so that members would have control over what news and information they receive via email, rather than having to receive everything; increased interactivity, including member profiles and comments; and much more.
